Since receiving the go-ahead from the Swiss authorities on Wednesday, we have been further clarifying the detail of what that means to you our individual sailors and supporters.
The facts as we currently know them:
Key Nations are currently required to quarantine entering Switzerland. Expectations are for this list to very much reduce prior to our scheduled Europeans.
There are two further Swiss Government announcements with the opportunity of good news, one on the 4th June, the second on the 18th June. Implementation of announcements comes shortly after therefore applicable to our event but down to the wire in terms of notice.
Therefore, we are extending the early entry period to 6th June in respect of the above and the official go-ahead only being made on the 26th May.
We will now make a further event status announcement after the revised 6th June, early entry period.
Currently, there is no exemption from Swiss quarantine requirements for anyone on the bases of sporting activity.
The only Swiss quarantine exemption currently in place is for anyone who is fully vaccinated.
It is imperative that an individual National clarifies their own COVID regulations that will individually apply.
Definitive Swiss Government requirements can be found here: https://www.swissinfo.ch/eng/covid-19_coronavirus–the-situation-in-switzerland/45592192
It is vital that you combine Swiss requirements with your own National regulations relating to your return home.
Your Organising Authority is currently exploring testing opportunities to ensure both a safe regatta environment and aiding our fleet homeward travel. Further information will be made available once options are known.
On a positive, it is noted that driving to Switzerland from some locations is quarantine free in comparison to flying from the same location!
