We are preparing an update of the Class Rules. Planning is to publish the updated rules end of March.

30 March 2018: Nacra 15 class rules in conflict with assamble manual settings

Dear Nacra 15 sailors,

The Nacra factory has found a conflict between the Nacra assemble manual settings and Nacra 15 and Nacra 17 class rules measurement rules of the front crossbar.  This conflict has resulted in beam buckling in the Nacra 17 class and can give similar issues in the Nacra 15 class. Please see report that we will sent out today to all Nacra customers. nacra 15 and 17 font cross bar report

Therefore, we advise to update the Nacra 15 class rules to the following settings.

Fittings

(a)   USE

Minimum Maximum
Front cross beam curvature       5 mm 9 mm

Front cross beam curvature is the greatest distance between:

the cross beam

and a straight line from the port and starboard bottom points of the

beam at the intersection with the hull

taken at 90o to the straight line with the dolphin-striker tensioned, the mast

removed, the cross beam horizontal and both crossbeams tightened into their

beam beddings.

Kind regards Peter

12 July 2017: Message from the chairman:

Hi All,

Not long to go now until the biggest fleet of Nacra 15s to be raced in the World ever takes place, a true sign of our fleet gathering fantastic momentum.

In advance I’d just like to take this opportunity to remind all competitors that National flags within mainsails is mandatory at this event. Therefore should any team be without their country flag, please urgently get in touch with parts@nacrasailing.com by 9am tomorrow, the 13th July and the team will do their very best to supply your Country flag to the event.

Additionally as its our first major gathering I’m happy to inform you that both Leo Sanchez, our International Class Measurer and myself, Class President will be on hand in the set up days and the first day of racing to answer any class rule orientated questions, along with any other that you may have.

It is our intention to weigh boats prior to racing too, please stand-by to be advised.

More info to follow via the International Nacra 15 Class Association FB page.

Looking forward to seeing you all in Garda.

All the very best

Paul

19 June 2017 : use of non-class legal daggerboards and rudders

Due to a delay of the delivery of new original Nacra 15 rudders and daggerboards, some new boats are delivered by Nacra 15 factory with temporary other rudders and daggerboards (original from Nacra F16 or Nacra 17).

Sailors with a new boat with non original Nacra 15 rudders and daggerboards are allowed to use the temporary rudders and daggerboards delivered by Nacra factory until the original parts are delivered by Nacra. As soon as the original rudders and daggerboard are delivered it is for a boat owner/sailor not longer allowed to use the temporary rudders and daggerboards.

During use of temporary daggerboards the maximum used depth of the boards must be the same like the original Nacra 15 daggerboards: length is 143,5 cm from tip to bolt rope hole [centre] measured on the outside of the board [biggest curve]

On behalf of the Inernational Nacra 15 Class Association,

Edwin Lodder (Class Manager)

Paul Wakelin (Chairman)

7 May 2017 : sailing conform Class Rules

Now racing is started, be sure your boat will be 100% conform the Nacra 15 Class rules! During coming events spotchecks will be done to make sure all boats will be conform the class rules!

Also be sure that all parts on board are original coming from Nacra factory to make sure everybody is sailing with the same stuff and we have an equal playing field!

17 December 2016 : “Post from the President!!

“As we’re all aware, deliveries of the Nacra 15 are greatly anticipated although currently we’re all having to be patient. After meeting with NACRA SAILING (manufacturer) only this week we have been informed that the new factory facility is being brought on-line just as soon as possible.

Unfortunately these things can take a little longer than hoped but the key thing is here Quality. We are all acutely aware that the build quality of all our new boats has to be that of the highest level to meet both expectation and function. The new factory facility and production team can deliver this. Although potentially frustrating, the attention to these initial construction details are vital to the the quality end product we all want for the years to come. Currently the next batch of Nacra 15s is now expected end of March 2017 and customer orders will be immediately fulfilled from that point on.

It is so important to get the quality right as with the first Nacra 15s already delivered. We’re all in it for the long term.

Additionally your International Nacra 15 Class association is working hard behind the scenes on clarifying event schedules, an on-line membership joining facility, and helping National class associations getting up and running… lots to do, lots to look forward to, exciting times.

All the best,

Paul Wakelin
