#1. In advance of the imminent 2021 Revision of the Nacra 15 Class Rules, please see the upgrade diagram for correct fitment of the cleats for the Downhaul tails taking the standard 8:1 Downhaul to an improved 16:1 system. The recommendation is the the upmost blocks are secured together with a simple short dyneema strop or a shortened strop and plastic ball system as used with the current 8:1 system.
Importantly, the aim of introducing this improved system is to aid the ease of which downhaul is applied, not to dramatically increase the maximum range of the Downhaul. Caution needs to be used to ensure your mainsail is not excessively tensioned.
The 16:1 arrangement will be class legal upon IN15CA publication of the revised Class rules (anticipated 14th June 2021).
#2. The second technical diagram shows the correct fitment of additional screws that Nacra Sailing now recommend all Nacra 15 masts to have fitted. Contact your local Nacra Dealer to arrange fitting or the necessary parts to be sent.
If the Dealer route is not easily available to you then contact Nacra Sailing direct for further instruction. It is also intended to have a Nacra Sailing technician in place at Silvaplana to further aid competitors attending the upcoming European Championships, in the upgrade of the mast base.
This mast base screw upgrade is in addition to the earlier mast base spacer fitment issued last year.
