The Youth Olympic Games committee and the World Sailing Council decided the Youth Olympics 2018 in Argentina will be sailed in the foiling Nacra 15. From one week before the first racing day the supplied boats will be available for training. Together with World Sailing we are looking for the possibility to organize some training/coaching during that week to prepare all teams to sail the foiling Nacra 15.
14 mixed teams (between 15 and 18 years old) from 14 countries (1 team per country) may participate the Youth Olympics. The qualification of the countries will be organized by the International Nacra 15 Class in continental qualifier events in 2017/2018 and during the Nacra 15 World Championships in April 2018. Qualification events will be sailed on standard Nacra 15 (with C foils) with mixed teams. The age of the teams must be in the same age of those who may participate in the Youth Olympics (this means a team sailing the qualification must also be able to participate the Youth Olympics in 2018). This means in 2017 the teams must be <18 years and in 2018 the age must be <19 years. After a country is qualified, the countries will organize their own selections.
